ICI Paints Donates $15,000 in Paint and Cash to Support Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston
BOSTON – May 5, 2003 – ICI Paints, an international leader in the manufacture and distribution of world-class paint brands, today announced that it will donate more than $15,000 in paint and cash to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston to support the organization’s South Boston house building projects this summer.
The paint will cover every planned house build for Habitat in Boston this year, while the cash will go to purchase needed fixtures and supplies for many house builds.
Earlier this year, ICI Paints expanded in the Boston area by acquiring Hancock Paints, a longtime Boston landmark paint manufacturer specializing in paint formulated for the Northeastern climate. With that acquisition, ICI Paints now has 17 Boston-area stores to serve the professional painter and consumer alike.
“When we expand in a new community as we have here in Boston this year, we endeavor to become a contributing member of that community by tangibly supporting important social projects,” said William Paolillo, Senior Vice President of Sales for ICI Paints. “We want to earn the respect of our business peers and our customers by participating in both the economic and social development of this area. That’s simply how we do business at ICI Paints.”
The donation was announced at Gillette Stadium today during an ICI Paints’ ProShow, where professional paint contractors gather in a trade-show environment and see paint demonstrations, take advantage of special pricing and interact with ICI Paints’ product experts.
“The paint and cash donation could not have come at a better time. In this challenging economy, more people are in need than ever before and to have ICI Paints step in now to help Boston families get a new start in life is really wonderful,” said John Judge, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston. “We look forward to working with ICI Paints to push toward accomplishing our mission of eliminating poverty housing.”
A brief presentation from ICI Paints executives to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston will be made during a short ceremony at noon at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. All will be available for comment immediately following the ceremony.
The donation is part of ICI Paints’ national support of Habitat for Humanity, an organization that builds simple, decent and affordable housing with those in need of shelter. This year alone, ICI Paints plans to donate more than 20,000 gallons of premium paint and related products to Habitat for Humanity affiliates nationwide.
