Nashville Habitat for Humanity president and CEO Chris McCarthy receives HOPE Award for leadership

ATLANTA (June 8, 2009) – Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity president and chief executive officer Chris McCarthy was recently awarded the national Home Ownership Participation for Everyone award for leadership in Washington, D.C. HOPE Award recipients are selected on the basis of leadership and achievement in helping minority families realize and sustain the dream of homeownership.

“I am honored to have received recognition through this award,” said McCarthy. “It is a testament to the hard work of our affiliate and the many partners and donors in Nashville who play a major role in helping to make homeownership possible for families in need.”

McCarthy was selected from three finalists and 100 nominations nationwide and is the first Tennessean to receive this award. In addition to being recognized at the HOPE Awards gala in May, she received a $10,000 honorarium that she plans to donate to the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity.

The HOPE Awards is a national industry awards program that is sponsored through a partnership of real estate associations and was created in 2001 to recognize individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to increasing minority homeownership, revitalizing communities and expanding affordable housing opportunities. The awards are conferred every other year.
