ATLANTA (Oct. 12, 2009) – Habitat for Humanity International recently announced its participation in the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s iParticipate campaign, an effort that seeks to encourage volunteerism in America. The dedicated Web site,, will highlight volunteer opportunities in local communities across five key areas of service: Children and Education, Community Health, Well-being, Financial Security, Environmental Conservation and Support for Veterans and Military Families.

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with volunteers and partner families to provide simple, decent and affordable housing. The alliance with the Web site will provide a portal for interested individuals to find volunteer opportunities available at more than 1,500 Habitat affiliates across the United States. The site also features calendars of events, maps, digital tool kits and uses social networking Web sites to recruit friends and family for projects.

“We are grateful for our many volunteers, without whose generous support our work would not be possible,” said Chris Clarke, Habitat senior vice president of Marketing and Communications. “The eradication of poverty housing is no small task. Through the iParticipate campaign we will be able to reach new audiences of people interested in providing a hand up to families in need of homes and hope.”
