Subaru shares the love with donation to Habitat for Humanity

ATLANTA (March 17, 2010) – Habitat for Humanity International was presented with a donation of more than $1 million recently from Subaru of America, Inc., as one of the beneficiaries of the automaker’s “Share the Love” campaign.

“We are thankful for Subaru’s generosity and excited to be part of its Share the Love campaign for the second year,” said Mark Crozet, Habitat for Humanity International senior vice president of Resource Development. “The donation will help many families become proud owners of safe, decent and affordable housing. We look forward to continuing this partnership as we work to eradicate poverty housing for families in need.”

Habitat was one of five nonprofit organizations that Subaru customers who purchased or leased vehicles from Nov. 21, 2009–Jan. 4, 2010 could select to receive a $250 donation.

“Thanks to our customers, over the past two years we donated almost $10 million dollars to the Share the Love charities,” said Tim Mahoney, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Subaru of America, Inc. “We continued this program not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because it is part of our culture as an organization to support causes important to our customers.”

Last year, Habitat received just under $1 million as a participant of the campaign. Habitat for Humanity, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Meals on Wheels Association of America, the Boys and Girls Club and the National Wildlife Federation combined have received nearly $10 million from Subaru through its Share the Love campaign in the past two years.
