Habitat for Humanity welcomes nomination of Julian Castro as HUD secretary and congratulates outgoing secretary Shaun Donovan

ATLANTA (May 23, 2014) – Habitat for Humanity International congratulates Julian Castro on his nomination as secretary of Housing and Urban Development and congratulates Shaun Donovan for furthering the cause of affordable housing during his tenure.

“HUD plays a key role in ensuring the availability of safe, decent and affordable housing in the U.S. and supporting the position of the United States that shelter should be a priority around the world,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “We are pleased to learn of the nomination of Julian Castro and look forward to working with him to ensure that more people have the opportunity to live in a safe and healthy environment.
