FitFlop supports Habitat for Humanity in the United States and Great Britain

Sales of special-edition slippers help turn a HOUSE into a home

ATLANTA (Nov. 4, 2016) –This holiday season, FitFlop is supporting Habitat for Humanity with special edition HOUSE slippers.

FitFlop will donate US$20 for each pair sold in the U.S. and US$18.50, or 15 pounds, for each pair sold in Great Britain to Habitat for Humanity, which helps families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.

“At FitFlop, we put our hearts and souls into making great footwear, because we believe great foundations create better lives. And while really good soles are absolutely important, a decent home is the ultimate foundation,” said Marcia Kilgore, founder of FitFlop.

This is the second year of partnership between FitFlop and Habitat for Humanity. In 2015, FitFlop donated $25,000 to Habitat for Humanity through its special-edition HOUSE slipper campaign. Earlier in 2016, the company conducted another Habitat campaign featuring its Love & Hope sandals.

“Habitat is honored FitFlop has extended our partnership into 2016,” said Colleen Finn Ridenhour, deputy director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Habitat for Humanity International. “Bringing Habitat for Humanity’s mission to FitFlop customers and inviting them to support our work in the United States and Great Britain helps more families achieve strength and stability through housing.”

For slippers sold through January 2017, FitFlop will donate a minimum of US$100,000 in the United States and a minimum of US$50,000, or 40,544.26  pounds, in Great Britain. Funds raised in excess of the minimum of either country benefit Habitat for Humanity’s Global Impact Fund and will be used where donations can have the greatest benefit, expanding Habitat’s efforts to help families gain a decent and affordable place to call home.

HOUSE slippers come in two colors: charcoal grey or natural timberwolf with or without pom poms.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in nearly 1,400 communities throughout the U.S. and in nearly 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
