Picture yourself making a difference
Famed photographer Edward Steichen said that a portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it. It’s true that the best photographs aren’t always planned and plotted; sometimes, the best photographs are the ones that say something special because of that wonderful collision of the people and events that sit on both sides of the camera.
Habitat photos are often like that, and we would love to see yours. A completed project. A smile on a volunteer’s face. A new homeowner working hard on their family’s first house. A moment of joy or reflection, a quick break on an otherwise bustling build site, a shot that says, “This is who we are, and this is why we build.”
Our annual photo contest is officially underway, and we can’t wait to see the caliber of this year’s submissions. Past finalists have all captured something very special about the Habitat experience.
Your photos can help Habitat World share the work — and the need for decent, affordable housing — that occurs in your community and around the world every day. And your photos can win a chance to volunteer in Haiti during this year’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project.
