Major donation awarded to Habitat for Humanity International Africa and Middle East at reception

TANZANIA, AFRICA – Habitat for Humanity Africa and the Middle East announced the renewal of its partnership with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts to provide decent and affordable housing for families and communities in Tanzania. Mövenpick Royal Palm Hotel in Dar es Salaam donated $14,000 to Habitat for Humanity Africa and Middle East to celebrate the collaboration. The money will be used for Habitat for Humanity AME programs.
The renewal of the partnership was announced at a press conference at the Mövenpick Royal Palm Hotel Dar es Salaam on the 16th of March.
Since the successful launch of the partnership between Mövenpick and Habitat for Humanity Tanzania in February 2008, the two global brands have worked together to help local people improve their standard of living, enhance facilities and develop social sustainability in their communities.
Mövenpick has raised approximately $20,000 since 2008 to help projects in Tanzania, underlining the group’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainability in the country. The first Habitat for Humanity house born out of the collaboration was completed in August 2008 in the Chamazi-Mbagala area of Dar es Salaam.
“Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity has contributed to improving the lives of families and communities here in Tanzania and elsewhere in Africa,” said Hans-Peter Duerr, the Hotel General Manager. “At Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, we are extremely pleased to be renewing our collaboration in Tanzania with Habitat for Humanity and look forward to joining them in developing further initiatives which will have a beneficial impact on the region.”
The relationship is playing an important role in the Africa region, where Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ help for families fits in with the many efforts being undertaken.
Mövenpick is also involved with the work of Habitat for Humanity Egypt and recently completed four houses in Nazlet Hanna, a village part of the Beni Suef Governorate. Multiple ways of giving to the community is combined through this partnership, where guests of the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Egypt will have the opportunity to contribute at check out $1 or more, which will directly impact local Egyptian families’ living conditions through the Habitat for Humanity program. In addition to financial contributions, the partnership will offer possibilities for hotel guests to volunteer and build houses in a safe environment with families in need. The guests’ staying in Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Egypt Hotels will be further enriched by working and creating ties of friendship with local communities.
