This Is The First Time A Local School Undertakes Project On Its Own

Students built “houses” with paper bricks at a Singapore park.SINGAPORE, 10 April 2012: Anglo-Chinese School (International) recently raised S$40,000 (about US$31,600) for Habitat for Humanity Singapore.
The money was raised from Under No Roof, an advocacy and fund raising event pioneered by HFH Singapore.
This was the first time that a local school had undertaken the project on its own.
The school’s students gathered one weekend at a Singapore park and used paper bricks to build “houses”.
Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore’s Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, watched the students in action and put the finishing touch to a “house”.
Since 2003, Under No Roof has attracted hundreds of young people to experience homelessness and poverty housing by spending a night in cardboard shelters.
In 2006, the event [1] was combined with World Vision’s 30-Hour Famine that required participants to fast in addition to staying overnight in the makeshift structures.
A Singapore mall, VivoCity, was the venue of Under No Roof in 2007 when Habitat supporters built the world’s largest paper brick house [2].
