The pioneers

Meet a few of the first homeowners in Santo

Cleonise Tenten and family [1]
“Here, I feel safe,” she says. “It’s never too hot or too cold. And I’m not afraid of animals coming in the house and biting me.”

Andre Jean and family [2]
Andre has rebuilt his life and transformed the land surounding his new house into a lush garden.

Marie Veronila and family [3]
“When we lived in the tent, I was afraid to leave my children or my belongings,” she says. “In the new house, we have a new way of life.”

Murat Aubin and family [4]
The safety and security of a house has given them renewed confidence in themselves and their community.
