It is estimated that between 25-40 percent of all energy use in Europe and Central Asia is generated by households, and most of this energy is consumed for heating during the winter months. Because of poor insulation in the decaying housing stock, a lot of energy is wasted.

Three billion people – nearly half the world’s population – live on less than $2.50 a day. Only about 20 percent of households in developing countries have access to the formal financial sector and many of the rest lack access to credit, savings, and mortgages.

Disaster Response [4]
Habitat’s disaster response efforts focus on the housing needs that arise from natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies. Long after humanitarian aid organizations have completed their relief work, the need for quality shelter and housing remains for months and years.

Vulnerable groups [5]
Vulnerable groups often face poverty and exclusion, even in the developed countries of Europe. Whole communities are deprived of opportunities and pushed to the margins of society where they are locked in a cycle of poverty that they cannot break out of.
