Investing in Habitat for Humanity is now possible through the Habitat for Humanity Investment Program. When you participate in the Habitat Investment Program, you are investing in an organization that makes homeownership a possibility for families around the world, everyday. Habitat will use the proceeds from the Habitat Investment Program to lend to Habitat affiliates and partners around the world to build more homes at an accelerated rate and serve more families.
With the Habitat Investment Program, individual investors earn a fixed financial return while generating real-life returns that are measured in homes built, families served and lives changed. You select the interest rate and the term of the investment from the choices provided in the application process. In addition to a modest financial return, investors have the benefit of knowing that their investment has helped Habitat make homeownership a possibility for families in need.
How does the Habitat Investment Program work?
The proceeds from the Habitat Investment Program will be used to lend to Habitat for Humanity affiliates and partners around the world to use as capital to accelerate the rate at which we can build homes or provide housing to more families.
What options do I have with the Habitat Investment Program?
Through the application process you can select:
- How much money you would like to invest (minimum dependent upon purchase method);
- The term of the investment (one to 10 years, dependent upon purchase method);
- interest rate you would like to receive (maximum 2 percent).
How can I make an investment?
There are two ways you can invest in the Habitat Investment Program:
Work with a Calvert Foundation sales representative
To make a Habitat investment part of your portfolio, contact the program facilitator, Calvert Foundation, for a prospectus or written application. More information is available on Calvert Foundation’s Web site at www.calvertfoundation.org/habitat . For this method, there is a $1,000 minimum investment.
If you work with a financial adviser to manage your portfolio, you can also participate by contacting your financial adviser and asking them to contact a Calvert Foundation sales representative.
Invest directly online with MicroPlace
Go online to https://www.microplace.com/habitat?cid=habitat and use MicroPlace, the online investment marketplace, to process your investment. For this method, there is a $100 minimum investment.
Please note: Because this is an investment rather than a donation, your investment will not be tax-deductable. Please refer to the full prospectus for a complete description of this investment.
Habitat for Humanity has joined with Calvert Foundation to create the Habitat Investment Program. The investments, called Community Investment Notes, are obligations of Calvert Foundation. Through this program with Habitat for Humanity, Calvert Social Investment Foundation (Calvert Foundation), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, offers the Community Investment Note, a one-10 year note earning up to 2 percent interest. The Note is subject to certain risks, is not a mutual fund, is not FDIC or SIPC insured, and should not be confused with any Calvert Group-sponsored investment product. This is neither an offer to sell nor a solicitation of an offer to buy these securities; the offering is made subject to the terms and conditions of the prospectus, which should be read before investing.
