Habitat for Humanity International Names The PMI Group As Cornerstone Partner In 'More Than Houses' Campaign
AMERICUS, Ga., Sept. 25, 2002- The PMI Group Inc. (NYSE: PMI) has been named a Cornerstone Partner by Habitat for Humanity International in the "More Than Houses: Rebuilding Our Communities" capital campaign to raise $500 million by 2005. "More Than Houses" funding is dedicated to building 100,000 Habitat houses by the end of 2005, equal to the number of houses built by Habitat for Humanity in its first 26 years.
"PMI is committed to creating homeownership opportunities that put families into a home of their own," said Chairman and CEO of the PMI Group Roger Haughton, who has participated in numerous Habitat for Humanity builds. "Our work with Habitat for Humanity International's More Than Houses will help further this goal."
PMI Group Inc., which through its subsidiaries, is one of the largest providers of private mortgage insurance and other mortgage-credit enhancements in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and throughout Europe, became a Cornerstone Partner in the More Than Houses campaign as part of its continuing support for Habitat for Humanity International. Since 1993, PMI has contributed financial resources and volunteer labor to Habitat for Humanity building projects in cities, such as Houston, Concord, Calif., Seattle, Fort Wayne, Ind., Atlanta, San Francisco and Belfast, Northern Ireland. PMI Group also has supported Jimmy Carter Work Projects in 1994 and 1995, sending its employee volunteers to build Habitat houses in Eagle Butte, S.D., and in the Los Angeles area.
