New Senior Vice President of Development Joins Habitat
AMERICUS, Ga., August 1, 2002 - Habitat for Humanity International has named Anthony DiSpigno as senior vice president of development in charge of all fund-raising and resource development at the nonprofit organization.
"Habitat is a great organization. I am a firm believer that to solve some of society's ills, you have to start with a house," said DiSpigno. "I look forward to working with many of the generous individual and corporate sponsors who will help us in our goal to eliminate poverty housing."
DiSpigno most recently served as vice president for university relations at the University of Portland and previously as a manager with E.F. Hutton in New York City. The University of Portland recently completed a campaign under DiSpigno's leadership to raise $116 million.
He will be responsible for reaching Habitat for Humanity International's five year goal of raising $500 million for the More Than Houses Campaign as well as for annual resource development to include gift planning, direct marketing, individual donations, foundation giving, cash products, corporate gifts and employee volunteer participation. In FY 2001 overall donations totaled $142 million. DiSpigno is a 1983 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He also has a master's degree in business administration from the University of Portland.
Habitat Founder and President Millard Fuller said the organization is fortunate to have someone with DiSpigno's expertise on board. " I am exuberant about Tony DiSpigno joining Habitat for Humanity International as our senior vice president of development. He is very capable and full of energy and experience. This man is going to make a difference in this ministry."
DiSpigno said the best thing about Habitat is the look on a new homeowner's face when they receive the keys to their new home. He added, "Habitat volunteers see the tremendous difference they make in peoples' lives."
