DIY–Do It Yourself Network and Habitat for Humanity Dedicate Home Built for TV and Charlotte Resident
Local Mother of Two Sons Will Soon Hold the Key to Her First Home
Who: DIY–Do It Yourself Network and Habitat for Humanity
What: DIY, Habitat for Humanity International and Habitat for Humanity Charlotte will dedicate a new home to a local mother of two sons. For the past several weeks, area television producers have taped the construction of the home as part of a unique public affairs partnership between DIY and Habitat. The footage will be used to create a five-part workshop – to air later this year on DIY – on how to build a Habitat house.
When: June 7 at 12 p.m. ET
Where: 5322 Eaton Circle, Charlotte, NC 28208
Why: DIY and Habitat for Humanity International’s public affairs initiative is centered on volunteer recruitment. In addition to the five-part workshop – to be hosted by home renovation expert Steve Thomas – DIY will use the footage captured by area producers to create training videos with step-by-step instruction for the thousands of Habitat for Humanity volunteers. The training videos will be distributed to Habitat for Humanity’s 1,700 affiliate offices across the country.
Feature sponsors of the partnership are Masco Corporation and Lumber Liquidators. Representatives from both companies will be at the dedication, as well as those from Time Warner Cable Charlotte.
