Dave McMurtry has a history of accomplishments as a high-tech executive. He spent much of the past 15 years building technology companies whose products are used regularly by millions around the world.

He joined Habitat for Humanity International in 2010 as its senior vice president of Strategy. Currently, he also serves as the executive sponsor of the five-year strategic plan, now under development, for Habitat’s operations worldwide.

At Intuit, he held a number of key roles, including product development, international operations, and corporate development. During a five-year period in corporate development, his team led transactions worth more than $1.5 billion in acquisitions to Intuit's software and technology portfolio and executed over 25 partnerships with more than fifteen Fortune 500 companies.

More recently, as CEO of technology startups, McMurtry raised $8 million in funding from leading venture capital firms and Fortune 50 companies and signed significant revenue-generating agreements with companies that included TimeWarner, Dow Jones, Fortune, and Forbes.

In 2009 he spent six months advising Kiva.org in Liberia on how best to expand its West African operations and help its Microfinance partner raise $5M in grant aid. This entailed traveling throughout rural Liberia by motorcycle, training staff on Kiva systems and processes, and disbursing microloans to 1,500 small business entrepreneurs. McMurtry captured this life-changing experience in a documentary film.

His work in Liberia led McMurtry to Habitat for Humanity where, as a volunteer, he spent six months in Sincelejo, Colombia, raising funds and helping to build 40 houses for the victims of violence. Today, he is applying his passion for strategy, growth, technology and non-profits to Habitat for Humanity’s global operations.

McMurtry is an inveterate traveler who has lived in or traveled to over 120 countries. He has volunteered as a pilot with Doctors without Borders, been an active participant with the World Affairs Council, served as a GED tutor at San Quentin prison and is a competitive volleyball player. He is a Sloan Fellow with a Master’s in Business from Stanford University and a B.S. in Business Administration from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.
