Prison Build Program

As volunteers in Habitat for Humanity’s Prison Partnership program, offenders experience the joy and reward of helping low income families. At the same time, they learn valuable job and life skills that can help them to succeed upon their release. Global Village and Discovery Center
At the Global Village & Discovery Center, guests see first-hand how Habitat responds to the worldwide problem of poverty housing. Visitors walk through slums in the “Living in Poverty” exhibit to see how many millions of people subsist in the worst of conditions. They emerge to tour examples of Habitat homes in Africa, Asia and Central America. Get your hands dirty making bricks and tile, or learn more about Habitat’s beginnings and its presence in the world. Come away energized to join the cause of ending poverty!

Senate Build
In June 2000, U.S. Senators unanimously passed Senate Resolution 319 in which each senator pledged to work with a local Habitat affiliate to build at least one Habitat house in his or her home state by the end of 2001.
