Women Build Partnerships

Women Build’s National Underwriter and Major Sponsors

Lowe’s is the national underwriter of the Women Build program. In 2006 and 2007, Lowe’s will sponsor First Families Building Homes Across America, which will challenge women governors, state first ladies and women leaders from all levels of government to make a highly visible commitment to the eradication of poverty housing in their home communities.

Home Interiors and Gifts, Inc., North America’s largest direct seller of home décor products, has donated nearly $2 million to the Women Build program and has sponsored 22 homes in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Home Interiors Decorating Consultants continue to raise funds for Women Build by selling products, such as candles-in-a-jar, designated specifically for Habitat for Humanity fundraisers. In addition, Christi Carter Urschel, chairman and founder of Home Interiors Charitable Foundation®, has committed all of her profits from her decorating book, Art of Accessorizing, to support the Women Build program.

Stone Soup cartoonist Jan Eliot has become a favorite of Habitat for Humanity International’s Women Build department. In March 2004, Stone Soup readers followed Holly and Alix as they visited Aunt Margie in California for spring break. Expecting to spend the week on the beach, boy-crazed Holly was not happy to find out that Aunt Margie had made plans for the sisters to volunteer on a Habitat for Humanity construction site helping a family build a much needed new home! Now readers can follow Gramma while she’s off to Africa to build a home for another family in need
