Host a large-scale advocacy campaign on your school campus or in your community. Use the following ideas to plan for your campaign. Advocate on a national level As a group:
• Host a cyber cafe by setting up laptop computers at a central location. Have visitors sign up as online Habitat for Humanity advocates at www.habitat.org/gov.
• Create a form letter that you can ask individuals to sign. Mail these letters to the appropriate House representative and state senators.
• Make a video.
As an individual:
• Become an online Habitat for Humanity advocate at www.habitat.org/gov.
• Send a handwritten letter to your House representative and state senators.
• Call your House representative and state senators’ offices.
• E-mail your House representative and state senators.
Advocate on a local and state level Contact your local Habitat for Humanity affiliate or state support organization to learn about local and state-level advocacy campaigns that you can be a part of. To find your local affiliate search by ZIP code. Schedule a meeting with your local official and talk to him or her about Habitat for Humanity’s work and the need for adequate housing.
