  • What is Youth United?
    A program that helps kids raise money and build Habitat houses in their neighborhoods.
  • Who runs the Youth United program?
    Youth United is run by kids and for kids. Each Youth United group is led by a committee made up of high school- or college-age youth. An adult helps the group and offers advice.
  • How do Youth United groups raise money to build houses?
    There are many different ways, from running car washes to selling T-shirts to applying for grants.
  • I am 5 to 8 years old. Can I help build a Habitat house?
    No, kids under 16 are not allowed on the site when there is building going on, but there are still lots of ways you can help! You can raise money, write stories, plan events, plant flowers and grass or tell others about Habitat for Humanity.
  • What Youth United positions are available for me?
    You can be a Youth United member. Members go to Youth United meetings, raise money and help with events.


Join Youth United in your area

  • To find out if the local Habitat for Humanity near you has a Youth United group, check the list of participating affiliates. If they do, call or e-mail them using the contact information listed.
  • If your local Habitat affiliate doesn’t have a Youth United program, ask them if you can start one. The Youth United coordinator in your area can send you a starter kit on how to establish a Youth United group.
