Europe and Central Asia

More and more people live in poverty in Europe and Central Asia. Their homes are unsafe and very old. Plus, many do not have running water in the house. Habitat for Humanity tries to improve these conditions for families in Europe and Central Asia. Last year, Habitat built nearly 700 homes in countries such as Slovakia, Romania, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia and Macedonia. Habitat has influenced housing in 16 countries of this region. Over 2,000 families now live in Habitat homes. These houses are built with love by volunteers. They come from across the world to build in Europe and Central Asia. Volunteers include people of all ages, even students. Habitat for Humanity will continue their work in Europe and Central Asia until every person has a decent home.

What does your house look like? The house I live in is made out of bricks and has eight floors. There are a lot of other apartments in my house. The roof of my house is flat, so I’m able to walk from one roof to another.
Wie sieht Dein Haus aus? Mein Haus ist aus Backstein und ist 8 Stockwerke hoch. Es gibt noch viele andere Wohnungen in meinem Haus. Das Dach von meinem Haus ist flach, so dass ich von einem Dach zum anderen gehen kann.

What do you do on an average day? I go to school in the morning. After I come home I do my homework and then go to soccer training. In the evening I visit my friend and we play computer games.
Wie sieht Dein normaler Tag aus? Morgens gehe ich zur Schuhle. Wenn ich nach Hause komme, mache ich meine Hausaufgaben und gehe danach zum Fussballspielen. Am Abend besuche ich meinen Freund und spiele Computerspiele mit ihm.
