Latin America and the Caribbean

Many families cannot own a home in Latin America and the Caribbean. People do not earn enough money. They have little rights in the government. They do not receive an education. There is little land for them to own. One third of the population in this region is poor. The homes they live in are very unsafe and crowded. There is usually little or no water. Disease spreads easily. These conditions keep people in poverty.

Habitat for Humanity works throughout this region and builds decent homes for its citizens. Habitat tries to protect the homes from natural disasters. This offers families more stability. A home is a great source of pride for the families in Latin America and the Caribbean.
