The Building a Better World Youth Activities Poster is an interactive poster designed to educate youth between the ages of 8 and 12 about Habitat for Humanity and housing issues while also providing them with community service opportunities. Each Building a Better World Poster comes with a Leader’s Guide (including instructions, explanations of educational and community service tasks, and the necessary handouts) and three sheets of unique full-color stickers.

New!!!
The Building a Better World Youth Activities Poster now has a new optional Faith-based Leader's Guide. This new guide adds scripture quotes and questions to challenge young people's spiritual thoughtfulness. The only difference between the regular version and the faith-based version is the leader’s guide and the activities it provides; the rest of the packet is the same. If you would like to receive the faith-based version, make sure to mark your order form appropriately.

The poster starts out with an image of a substandard house overlaid with a grid of squares. Each square is numbered and has a corresponding task and sticker. Youth complete each task, under adult instruction and supervision, and apply the task’s corresponding sticker to the boxes on the poster. When all tasks are complete, the substandard house on the poster will be completely covered by these stickers to reveal a new picture. More details are available that describe how the Building a Better World Youth Activities Poster works.

The Building a Better World Youth Activities Poster is designed to be completed over multiple days with one task (lasting 15 to 30 minutes) being completed each day. The Leader’s Guide includes instructions about how to complete the poster in as few as five days. Tasks range from reading and discussing stories written by homeless children to building a model Habitat house.

The Building a Better World Youth Activities Poster is adaptable. You can come up with your own tasks and activities to tailor the poster to your needs. The poster can also be used as a goal-setting/monitoring device. For example, if you are raising money, each square could carry a dollar value and the poster could be used as a way for the group to keep track of how much had been raised.
