Teacher Fellows: Application information

Thanks for your interest in Habitat’s Teacher Fellows program.
Habitat for Humanity International will select 10 applicants to go on a one-week domestic build where they will have an opportunity to learn about poverty housing issues and HFHI's educational resources.

 

   


Participants will be expected to participate in online discussions before the trip, plan their own volunteer project after the trip and complete the follow-up evaluations. Please read our frequently asked questions before filling out your application.

Application components

  • The first section will ask you some personal information, such as phone numbers, e-mail addresses and mailing address, so that we can contact you.
  • The second section asks about your current teaching position (school, subjects/grades).
  • The third section is where we get to know you through seven short essay questions.
  • The fourth section asks that you submit a letter verifying your employment. Instructions are included.

  • How have you already, or currently, involved your students and colleagues in Habitat for Humanity? How could you involve your students and colleagues in the future?

Letter verifying employment
Please make sure the letter includes the grades and subjects you are currently teaching and how long you have been employed at the school.

Letters should be printed on official letterhead with contact information for the principal included. Please keep letters less than one page in length and have it signed, sealed and postmarked by Feb. 11, 2011.

The Teacher Fellows selection committee will review all applications and contact finalists for a brief phone interview. The 2011 Teacher Fellows trip participants will be announced/notified by March 18, 2011.
