HFHI’s Youth Programs department is hiring Youth Immersion advisors and team leaders for summer 2008.The positions are based at Habitat for Humanity International headquarters in Americus, Ga. Youth Immersion staff will travel to different Habitat for Humanity affiliates for four week-long trips. Leaders will live and work with 16- to 18-year-olds, while creating and participating in activities that engage participants in social issues.
Openings: Eight The advisor position is very similar to the role of camp counselor. Advisors work one-on-one with students during the duration of each trip, with the guidance of the team leader and Youth Immersion coordinator. Essential duties and responsibilities include: - Working with team leader to coordinate each one-week trip, including (but not limited to): enforcing expectations, setting rules and regulations, supervising and engaging participants both on and off construction sites, working with students on site and ensuring safety at all times. - Facilitating planning and implementation of program curriculum for each location. - Coordinating and managing communications with participants and their guardians prior to the event. This includes responding to inquiries and concerns about the programs, and other phone and e-mail communications as necessary. - Entering and managing participant information in the database. - Other related responsibilities as determined by the Youth Programs department.

Openings: Two The team leader is responsible for administering and managing each trip that they are given. This position is slightly more managerial and administrative in nature, while still requiring the employee to interact directly with participants. Essential duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): - Setting and enforcing rules, regulations, and program expectations with staff and participants, while ensuring everyone is safe on and off site, during participation in the event. - Facilitating planning and implementation of program curriculum. - Managing financial responsibilities of the Youth Immersion team, including budgeting, receiving advanced funds, payment of all event expense, expense tracking and account balancing. - Managing all trip logistics including (but not limited to) coordinating roles of advisors, organizing staff meetings before, during, and after each event and coordinating participant and staff travel arrangements. - Serving as liaison between Habitat affiliate, HFHI Youth Programs, participants, guardians and the media. - Other responsibilities determined by the Youth Programs department.
