2008 Homeowner Youth Essay Contest

Alyxis Smith, Virginia
1st place, 8-14 age group

My Habitat home means because my Mommy tells me the early bird gets the worm. We have both been working hard. My Mommy misses me every Saturday. But it is okay because she is a early bird trying to get the worm.

I am glad for my Habitat home. Now I have a room I can paint pink with High School Musical stuff. It will be so cool. My new friends are going to be my neighbors. We’ll have all kinds of fun! My Mom and me want to plant lots of flowers everywhere.

I’m so happy I don’t have to keep moving around. Me and my Mommy used to lay in bed at bedtime and pretend how our house will look. It is all mine and nobody can hurt us.

My Habitat home means a lot to me because it will be my home and that means a lot to me!!
