Celebrating employee and customer engagement
Kristie Bell, director of communications for Home is the Key partner Kum & Go, shares why her company supports Habitat’s efforts and helps to create affordable places to live for families throughout the United States.
Q: Kum & Go has been involved with Habitat for quite some time. Tell us about the overall partnership.
A: Kum & Go has supported Habitat nationally and locally for five years. Through local projects, employee volunteering, corporate support and collecting donations, we feel strongly that our dedication has made a world of difference for families in regions across the West and Midwest.
From our hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Colorado Springs, our employees have participated in build projects and raised funds in all of our locations to support Habitat. Through all of that, we have proudly donated over $1.5 million to Habitat!
Q: Why is that knowledge important to you as a company?
A: We are acutely aware that affordable housing is more important than ever. I think it’s pretty clear that too many families are having a hard time making ends meet and that a big part of what is needed is the opportunity that having an affordable place to live can create.
As a company, we are focused on making communities better. We want to help build thriving neighborhoods where people support one another and help create change. Habitat is a big way that we are able to do that.
We love the team-building it represents, and we also love how we can also engage with our customers and tell them about how we all work together. For example, this April, everyone who stops by Kum & Go can contribute to Habitat.
Q: What has been your favorite personal experience with this partnership?
A: Working alongside amazing families as they create their path to becoming homeowners. What an amazing experience to be a part of building someone’s dream!
