Lesotho volunteer trip

Lesotho

Home construction

Help build new homes with those in need.

9 days

Travel to Lesotho, a small country in the middle of South Africa, where you can partner with Habitat for Humanity to build opportunity, stability and potential for a family of orphans and their caretaker.

Habitat for Humanity’s Orphans and Vulnerable Children Project is our response to the AIDS/HIV crisis in Africa. After your team builds a simple house, our staff will provide the children with health education, legal assistance and support to ensure that this solution is a long-term improvement.

This trip includes time for you to reflect, relax and be inspired by volunteers who are a lot like you. In addition to building in the community, Habitat staff will show you around Lesotho so that you experience life in southern Africa.

Global Village sends volunteers to build with Habitat for Humanity projects across the world. Get your hands dirty on the work site, meet the families whose housing situation you are improving, experience the country like an insider and do it all alongside a team of like-minded volunteers. No experience is required! This build is your next step with Habitat to make the world a better place.

Program donation and fundraising

US$2,010

Consider setting a fundraising goal over the minimum. Every donation you raise keeps Habitat building after your team returns home and helps us serve another family.

You may fundraise or give the program donation. Fundraising is as easy as telling your friends, family and co-workers about why you build with Habitat for Humanity. They may even ask to join the team! We set you up with a great website and coaching for success.

Have questions?

Your team leader, John Waite, will lead this team in the field and would love to speak with you. Email John at johngwaite@gmail.com.

John’s favorite Global Village memory: “In El Salvador, the family invited us to their very modest rental home and expressed how the new home would change their lives. Both parents worked full time and extended family took care of the children. We truly understood the impact the project would have on their lives. It we heartening to see how happy and positive they were with such hard lives, by our standards. It reminded us all of what’s important in life and inspired us to do more to help others.”
