Hawaii volunteer trip

Kona, HI

Blitz build

Join hundreds of volunteers to build many houses in one week.

13 days

Trip cost: US$2,470

Join to help build 10 homes for 10 families in just 10 days! Join West Hawaii Habitat for Humanity on its biggest project to date as it teams up with more than 100 volunteers for its 2017 Blitz Build.

You and your team will help construct a new home from start to finish, working alongside partner families and members of the Kona community.

While on the Big Island, you’ll learn about the Hawaiian spirit of aloha and their respect for the land. Come with an open mind and a readiness to serve. We promise this opportunity will be 2017’s best chance to make scores of new friends in just a single week!

Global Village sends volunteers to build with Habitat for Humanity projects across the world. Get your hands dirty on the work site, meet the families whose housing situation you are improving, experience the country like an insider and do it all alongside a team of like-minded volunteers. No experience is required! This build is your next step with Habitat to make the world a better place.

Program donation and fundraising

$2,470

You may fundraise or give the program donation. Fundraising is as easy as telling your friends, family and co-workers about why you build with Habitat for Humanity. They may even ask to join the team! We set you up with a great website and coaching for success.

Volunteers are encouraged to set a fundraising goal over the minimum. Every donation you raise keeps Habitat building after your team returns home and helps us serve another family.

Have questions?

Connie Genger and Mike Stearney will lead this team in the field and would love to speak with you. Email them at gvhawaii2017@gmail.com.

When asked about previous Global Village experiences, Connie said, “My favorite Global Village moment was my first GV build in Mexico in 2012, getting to know the family who worked so hard side by side with us, and especially the last day, when the grandmother came over to hug me with a ‘muchas gracias!’"

Mike said, “What I remember most about my GV trip is the time spent with the children of the neighborhood where we built. They met us each morning as we arrived, took our hands and walked us through the maze of alleyways to our build site. During breaks, they would sit with us and draw pictures, pose for ‘selfies,’ or invite us to join them playing games. Their unbridled joy and energy inspired us each and every day on the build site.”
