Home construction

Help build new homes with those in need.

10 days

Trip cost: US$1,800

Join this 10‐day Global Village trip building homes and sustainable solutions with partner families in Cambodia.

Depart for Cambodia, a country known for ancient architecture, religious temples and rich cultural traditions. Like many rural areas, the lack of sanitation facilities and access to clean water is a national problem plaguing many Cambodians. Partner with Habitat for Humanity Cambodia to empower communities to improve their access to basic services and better living conditions.

After volunteering during the day, you and your team will have free time for excursions, relaxation and reflection in the evening. During your day off, you will explore the markets, monuments and ancient temples of Siem Reap.

Global Village sends volunteers to build with Habitat for Humanity projects across the world. Get your hands dirty on the work site, meet families whose housing situations have been improved with Habitat’s help, experience the area like an insider and do it all alongside a team of like-minded volunteers. No experience is required! This build is your next step with Habitat to make the world a better place.

Program donation and fundraising

You may fundraise or give the program donation. Fundraising is as easy as telling your friends, family and co-workers about why you build with Habitat for Humanity. They may even ask to join the team! We set you up with a great website and coaching for success.

Volunteers are encouraged to set a fundraising goal over the minimum. Every donation you raise keeps Habitat building after your team returns home and helps us serve another family.

  • Days 1-2, Travel. Recommended departure day and travel time from the U.S.

Types of work for volunteers

Typical work for a Global Village team may include digging foundation, framing walls, mixing cement, painting, carrying construction materials and other tasks assigned by the expert construction crew.

Global Village teams to Cambodia can expect to stay in a local hotel with team members sharing rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast and dinner are usually eaten at the hotel or at a local restaurant, and lunch is usually provided by the affiliate and taken on the work site.

Your team leaders, Joe Arbanas, will lead this team in the field and would love to speak with you. Email Joe at

When asked about his favorite Global Village memory, Joe said, "From my build experiences in Bali and Cambodia, it is all about the people! The new homeowner whose faces light up with excitement and whose hearts overflow with gratitude. The local Habitat partners who offer so much support, expertise and fellowship and the Habitat team members who make many new lifelong friends while experiencing a truly life changing event. Everyone involved gives and receives the invaluable gifts of gratitude and respect."
