9 days

Trip cost: US$1,755

Join this Global Village trip to Macedonia and explore the country and culture while helping build safe, affordable housing alongside the local community.

Many families in Macedonia live in homes with damaged or broken window and doors, inadequate insulation or damaged walls. Habitat for Humanity Macedonia partners with the local community, future homeowners and volunteers to construct apartment buildings for low-income families living in substandard conditions. Habitat Macedonia’s first phase of the project provided 24 families with new, affordable housing. The second phase of the project aims to construct 12 more apartments for families.

You’ll be staying in double-occupancy rooms at a nearby hotel where breakfast and dinner will be provided. Lunches will be served on the build site. Work site tasks typically include transporting materials, excavation and cleaning of the build site, assembling rebar, painting or preparing concrete or trusses. Off the build site, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the capital, Canyon Matka, Macedonian waterfalls, the ancient city Stobi, a small resort city Ohrid or a local winery.
