The Christmas tree at New York City's Rockefeller Center is a holiday staple in the United States. Each year, Habitat for Humanity volunteers use lumber milled from the iconic tree to help Habitat build a simple, decent home. Lumber from the 2010 tree was used in a Habitat house in Newburgh, New York. Employees from Tishman Speyer — the owner and operator of Rockefeller Center — volunteered to put the wood to good use.
