What we do
Habitat for Humanity does much more than build houses. Learn about the five different areas in which we work.
Since 1976, Habitat has helped 6.8 million people find strength, stability and independence through safe, decent and affordable shelter.
Latin America and the Caribbean
In 1979, Habitat for Humanity opened its doors in Guatemala, the first country in Latin America and the second country outside of the United States (after the Democratic Republic of Congo). Today, Habitat for Humanity has served almost 450.000 families in Latin America and the Caribbean through home construction, renovations and critical home repairs or increased access to improved shelter through products and services.
