Habitat for Humanity honored with communications awards
We have recently reached the end of “awards season” in the communications world, and Habitat for Humanity International has again been honored for its communications efforts and awareness-raising endeavors. Habitat was recognized for excellence in print, video, Web and events.
In the 33rd annual Telly awards — which acknowledge the best in film and video productions, groundbreaking online video content, commercials and programs — Habitat received four awards for three videos produced in 2011. “Building Louder” received top honors in the charitable/not-for-profit category and was also recognized for videography/cinematography. “Building Confidence” and “A Landmark for the Whole World” both received recognition as well.
The Public Relations Society of America bestowed a Silver Anvil Award of excellence in the category of events and services this year for Building Hope in Haiti: Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, a World Habitat Day event. The PRSA also named Habitat a bronze Anvil Award winner for What Will You Build? Habitat for Humanity International’s 2011 PSA campaign.
This year marked the 23rd annual GAMMA awards, presented by the Magazine Association of the Southeast. Habitat was honored to bring home four GAMMA awards, which commend the best in editorial and design in magazine publishing. Habitat World magazine garnered a gold award for Best Single Cover (September 2011), a silver general excellence award for the June, September and December 2011 issues, a silver award in the category of Best Single Issue for the December 2011 issue, and a bronze award in the Best Feature category for the June 2011 issue’s “Another Path Home.”
Last but not least, Habitat for Humanity International won no less than six EXCEL awards, presented by Association Media & Publishing. Among these were promotional publications gold awards for the Shelter Report 2012 Build Hope: Housing Cities After Disaster and The Many Roads Home: Habitat for Humanity International Annual Report, July 2010 – June 2011 and a silver award for the HFHI 2012 Wall Calendar. The new online presence of Habitat World received a gold award for design excellence in web publishing, and Habitat.org was recognized with two bronze awards for general and editorial excellence in web publishing.
We’d like to thank the organizations that have recognized Habitat’s commitment to spreading the word of our mission as we work toward our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
