From Oct. 6-12, 2013, the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project is improving homes and communities in California, Colorado, New York and New Jersey.  

The volunteers are building new, energy-efficient houses, making critical repairs, rehabiliting homes, or performing weatherization and home preservation projects.

Hosted in four states, this year's event honors the three decades of service by the former President and his wife. 

The build sites are located in California (Oakland and San Jose), Colorado (Denver), New York (New York City) and New Jersey (Union Beach).
