![]() Father and daughter Jose and Raquel Fierro share a warm moment on the porch of their Habitat house in Santa Fe, N.M. Reliving the Joy: A Habitat family album Homeowners old and new share stories of hope, houses and Habitat. The dedication of a Habitat for Humanity house can sometimes feel like the end of the journey. All the hours, all the laughter, all the sweat and effort encapsulated in a shiny key. That key opens a door into a sturdy, decent, affordable place to live. Even more, though, that key opens an avenue to all the blessings that can come with having a home, with the security and stability of ownership. A Habitat house is a place where grand plans for tomorrow can finally replace wearying worries about where to lay one’s head tonight. Such a house is a hatchery, a place where families grow and dreams incubate. Dedication day isn’t the end at all; for families the world over, it’s a rebirth, a solid start on a better journey. In celebration of the varied cities, towns and villages where Habitat works with families in need of housing, we’ve gathered voices from around the world homeowners, volunteers, staff members to help tell the Habitat story on the accompanying pages, a family album whose every page reminds us that home is where the hope is.
