Partnering to raise awareness

In September, Habitat Hungary cohosted a three-day international conference with longtime research partner Metropolitan Research Institute. Experts from more than 20 European countries reviewed existing housing policies throughout Central and Eastern Europe and discussed ways to make more decent shelter available for those in need of housing.

“Now we have the wiggle room to save money for our daughter’s education. That is what this is about — it’s all for her.”

Where we work

Habitat El Salvador has worked alongside families to create simple, decent and affordable shelter since 1992. Habitat’s work in the Central American country includes new construction, technical assistance and training for improvements to houses, financial education, advocacy efforts, and disaster response and risk management.

“I always felt that the house was a bonus. The true gift of Habitat was being given the confidence that I could provide for my family.”

Homeowner Linda Shaw Brooks, Habitat Lafayette (Ind.)
