Ahmari is 3 years old, the youngest of Vania Lopez’s four children. The family lives in a small, very old mobile home that Lopez says is “literally falling apart.” Soon, they will move into a Habitat home built with Delaware’s Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.
“Ahmari is super excited about our new home because she’s getting a princess-themed room that she can finally call her own,” says Lopez. Her siblings are thrilled, too: “They cannot wait to be able to come outside and enjoy their own backyard where they can play.”
It’s always been her dream, Lopez says, to give her children a place they can call “home” — “where we can build new and happy memories.”
Those memories began at the family’s groundbreaking ceremony earlier this summer. “We are one step closer to having our dream come true,” Lopez says. “Watching Ahmari help during the groundbreaking only shows that — no matter how small you are — giving a hand to help others brings joy to theirs hearts.”
