Wayfair and Habitat for Humanity International renew partnership to build and rehabilitate affordable homes
BOSTON (June 23, 2014) – Wayfair, an online retailer of home furnishings and decor, and Habitat for Humanity International today announced the renewal of their global partnership to help build and rehabilitate affordable homes. Wayfair enters its third year as a Habitat partner, providing financial support, volunteer mobilization and product donations to help eliminate poverty housing and homelessness.
“At Wayfair we believe everyone deserves a place to call home,” said Niraj Shah, CEO and co-founder of Wayfair. “We are proud to extend our partnership with Habitat for Humanity to help build safe and affordable homes.”
Over the past two years, the Wayfair partnership has contributed more than $500,000 to Habitat for Humanity. Wayfair donates home furnishings and décor to Habitat ReStores resale outlets to help fund home builds around the country. In addition, Wayfair raises funds and awareness for the cause by providing a donation at checkout feature on Wayfair.com.
“Wayfair has been an integral part of Habitat’s work to strengthen families and revitalize communities nationwide,” said Colleen Finn Ridenhour, deputy director, corporate, foundation and institutional relations, Habitat for Humanity International. “We’re so grateful to Wayfair for its past support and renewed commitment, and we look forward to this exciting new chapter of our partnership.”
To continue the tradition of employee volunteerism, Wayfair’s member-only brand, Joss & Main, participated in a home build in the Greater Boston area last week to help a local family in the company’s own backyard.
The Wayfair family of brands includes:
- Wayfair.com, the online destination for all things home
- Joss & Main, the members-only retail experience for daily home inspiration and savings
- AllModern, the go-to source for original modern design
- Birch Lane, a new collection of classic furnishings and timeless home décor
- DwellStudio, a design house for fashion-forward modern furnishings
Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Wayfair employs more than 1,600 people in its eight global locations of Boston; New York; Ogden, Utah; Hebron, Kentucky; Galway, Ireland; London; Berlin; and Sydney. For more information, visit www.wayfair.com.
