Going back to where the journey began

I am lucky enough to work at Habitat for Humanity International as a campus chapter associate. I work with amazing high school and college students who are passionate about Habitat. Before I got hired on here, I served for two years as an AmeriCorps member — the first year with Pensacola Habitat and the second year with the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative department at Habitat for Humanity International in Atlanta, Ga.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to attend the Build-a-Thon this year in Pensacola — not only because Pensacola is where I started my AmeriCorps journey, but also because it was the location of my very first Build-a-Thon.

I can’t wait to see how the affiliate has grown and catch up with old friends — and also make some new ones. I am also excited because this Build-a-Thon will be the kick-off for Pensacola Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative.

I’m very passionate about our Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative program and how it has expanded Habitat’s mission from new construction for one family to community development affecting may families. Having worked to help develop the initiative at Habitat International, I can’t wait to see how the revitalization work is going in Pensacola.
