Women Build volunteers and construction supervisors raise the walls.

As I pulled up to the Women Build site, I saw 20 members of the National Association of Home Builders Professional Women in Building kicking off National Women Build Week, joining the “Build Generation.”
What a great partnership! Habitat has empowered all of these women to give back to the community and to their industry.
This day was full of girl power with a great sense of accomplishment. It was great spending time catching up with old friends and making new ones.
The new friend was Gloria Shepherd, who lost everything in a tornado that caused a great deal of damage in Birmingham last spring.
Gloria is a precious lady who is so thankful for this opportunity to receive a new home with Habitat. I stood beside her as we raised the wall of her kitchen. I was thankful for the opportunity.
This event was about 20 women working together to help eliminate substandard housing. We all look forward to working with Habitat again soon!
