Job Description
As a leading international NGO committed to fighting poverty shelter worldwide, we are seeking a Business Planning Manager, with a focus on leading our key National Organizations and US Affiliates meet the rigorous yet exciting demands of the new strategic plan. If you are an expert at helping small to medium sized organization plan for their future growth, plus you’re scrappy, know how to get things done, passionate about development and want to help lead change in the world, we want to hear from you!
This role is perfect for you if you’ve been considering plans and ambitions to start a company in the next couple years, but want to gain hands-on experience with resources and mentorship first while also learning the NGO sector. We’re entrepreneurial enough that you’ll have a lot of leeway and responsibility, but we have enough of a operations in place so that you’re not starting from scratch.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· This position will build capacity and provide support to Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) area offices & Head Quarters staff in Business Planning. This position will be responsible for:
· Driving the development, publishing and continual improvement of best in class business planning, tools, templates, processes and guidelines for common business models for use by HFHI, US Affiliates and International country staff in 70+ countries. Categories of business models to be created include HFHI housing programs, country program, US Affiliates, HFHI Strategic Initiatives (existing and new), and other HFHI initiatives.
· Working with the Learning Team to identify required key competencies, develop knowledge transfer methodologies and support training of key HFHI, country program and US Affiliate staff on use of tools and best practices for business planning.
· Providing coaching, internal consulting and general support for a limited number of HFHI, International, and US Affiliate staff through the planning, change management and execution processes.
· Being an active contributing member of the Strategic Realization Team, flexibly taking on other duties as needed.
Job Requirements
Minimum: 1. MBA, MPA, or equivalent real-world experience 2. Proven experience leading small to medium sized organizations through end-to-end business modeling and planning in order to achieve growth at scale 3. Ability to build relationships, influence, and provide excellent service to all levels of the organization (Sr. leaders, middle management, both US and International) 4. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment and respond quickly to changing conditions. 5. Must be well-organized, detailed oriented, and able to work well both independently and in a team environment 6. Excellent time management and communication (written & verbal) skills 7. Ability to think strategically about complex problems and propose solutions 8. A commitment to community service and nonprofits 9. Proven capacity to train, coach and transfer knowledge 10. Experience with both Osterwalder and LEAN business model generation methodologies
Desired:
1. Business experience in developing country contexts
2. Past experience volunteering with Habitat or deep understanding of Habitat’s development approach
3. 5+ years of consulting experience in the development of business plans (fewer years if it is deep knowledge)
4. Executive management experience in starting and running a successful business at the scale [Scale meaning the size of our largest programs globally
5. Funding experience (Venture capital, Private Equity, Foundation, etc.)
6. Experience with, or knowledge of, International development and affordable housing
7. Spanish language proficiency
8. Experience with Osterwalder and LEAN business model generation
9. Experience in Non-profit management
