Job Description

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a seasoned professional to serve as the Director – Foundation Relations. Reporting to the Deputy Director – Corporate, Foundations & Institutional Relations, the Director – Foundation Relations manages a team of three Foundation Relations Officers.  The Director – Foundation Relations is responsible for the development and implementation of an overall fundraising strategy to secure new and renewed grant funding in support of HFHI's mission.  The Director – Foundation Relations will work closely with the Deputy Director – Corporate, Foundations & Institutional Relations, Resource Development leadership and key HFHI program stakeholders to maximize fundraising opportunities and leverage funding primarily through large, private, U.S.-based foundations to meet HFHI fiscal revenue goals. This position will be based at HFHI's Administrative Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.


Key responsibilities:


Prospect Identification
*Lead the identification process of potential foundation funders that align with HFHI funding priorities through in-depth research and/or personal knowledge of grant-making organizations.
*Assign prospects to the Foundation Relations team.


Cultivation & Stewardship
*Build and maintain effective relationships with foundation program officers through thoughtful cultivation and stewardship
*Introduce HFHI program officers and senior leadership as appropriate to educate, inform and engage multiple foundation stakeholders.

Solicitation
*Collaborate with HFHI leadership, Resource Development team and program stakeholders to ensure all grant proposals, concept papers and other materials align donor requirements and interests with HFHI funding priorities and needs.
*Working in close collaboration with cross-functional program and HFHI stakeholders, draft proposals and supporting materials for major grant applications.
*Support and mentor HFHI Foundation Relations Officers in grant development process.


Reporting
*Supervise grant reporting process.
*Monitor deadlines and work closely with HFHI Foundation Relations Officers, program officers and other HFHI stakeholders to ensure reporting requirements are met in a timely fashion and in full compliance with the foundation's reporting standards including HFHI finance and legal departments to ensure grant agreements, acknowledgements and payments are processed on time and accurately.
*Maintain accurate, detailed records in master HFHI prospect management database.


Management
*Establish Foundation Relations team as industry leaders in the area of foundation giving by staying abreast of trends and interests in the funding community and through knowledge sharing amongst HFHI peers.
*Apply knowledge to identify and seek new funding opportunities.
*In collaboration with the Deputy Director-Corporate, Foundation & Institutional Relations, direct all aspects of administration for the Foundation Relations team including budgeting, key performance indicators and metrics, and related processes.
*Create a professional environment that encourages and supports a highly functional resource development team.
*Support a culture of excellence and execution of best-in-class partnerships.

Job Requirements

*Bachelor’s degree
*6-10 years of related experience
*Programmatic and development experience in securing complex, six-and seven-figure multiyear grants preferably with the top funders in the housing/shelter, community development, and international affairs/human services sectors
*Outstanding oral and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills
*Excellent team building skills and eagerness to mentor growing team
*Highly collaborative
*Strong attention to detail/organizational skills
*Solutions-oriented with commitment to delivering excellent internal and external customer service
*Ability to complete multiple projects concurrently while balancing competing priorities; ability to meet deadlines
*Computer literate; able to use word-processing, spreadsheet, database and project software
*Working knowledge of BBEC and Team Approach preferred
*Knowledge of Habitat's Worldwide mission preferred
*AFP/CFRE Certification preferred
