Job Description
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami is in search of a development associate.
This position will report to the development director and is responsible for cultivation of individual donors and planned giving program. Support with team builds and grant writing.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate new and existing individual donors.
- Coordinate with director of development and volunteer and events director on strategies to turn volunteers into donors.
- Responsible for planned giving program.
- Direct annual appeals.
- Ensure timely stewardship and recognition to donors.
- Coordinate all Habitat Young Professionals governance.
- Liaison to Habitat Young Professionals board and all volunteer committees.
- Cultivate new Habitat Young Professionals.
- Solicit sponsorship opportunities.
- Coordinate volunteer activities and events together with volunteer and events director.
- Team building and grant writing support as needed.
- Submit weekly development report.
Qualifications:
- Must represent Habitat favorably in the community, develop and maintain good relationships with partners and volunteers.
- Possess at least an associate's degree and two – five years progressively responsible experience in fundraising.
- Capital campaign experience.
- Proficient in public speaking and able to express ideas verbally and in writing.
- Excellent writing skills, including experience in successful annual appeals and proposal writing.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and courteously, verbally and in writing with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Be detail oriented and able to work with little supervision and in cooperation with a variety of volunteers and staff members.
- Must have the ability to organize, prioritize work, meet critical deadlines and be flexible.
- Must be competent in computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Raiser’s Edge.
- Relationship building is a key component of this position.
Hours and compensation
- Salary is commensurate with experience.
- Regular working hours, some evenings and Saturdays as needed. Some work outside normal business hours is expected.
