Job Description

Houston County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. As a Christian organization, our vision is to provide decent, affordable homes in a community where poverty is unacceptable. The mission is to seek to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.

The resource development manager position is key to building a sustainable organization.  \As with all positions in the organization, this position is as much a calling as it is a career opportunity. He or she must be able to embrace and support the organization’s vision, mission and strategic plan. Individual must be flexible and be able to grow professionally as the organization grows in meeting capacity-building challenges.

Location: Warner Robins, Ga., serving Houston County (Warner Robins and Perry, Ga.)
Reports to: Executive director
Status: Full time – 40 hours per week

Salary: Negotiable based on experience

Responsibilities: To support the ministry of building homes through developing long-term resource partnerships within the community.

Duties:

  • Refine, establish and maintain fundraising policies and practices that support the overall vision and goals of Houston County Habitat for Humanity.
  • Develop and implement a formal case for support and operations for the annual giving program to include direct mail, telemarketing, pledge (stewardship),e-solicitations, volunteer opportunities, and leadership giving opportunities.
  • Work alongside members of the board of directors and leadership advisory council to expand network and maximize relationships.
  • Establish and implement a fundraising calendar that is integrated with other Houston County Habitat departments such as family services and Habitat ReStore.
  • Oversight and coordination of special events, i.e. golf tournament, Taste of Giving, Thank-A-Thon and Women Build, in ways that will support the annual fund.
  • Help staff the fundraising and church relations committees; attend board meetings, make reports monthly and presentations quarterly or as requested.
  • Manage an effective pledge management, gift reminder system, and annual fund report series (donor updates).
  • Develop and produce materials and personnel necessary for supporting annual campaign, special events and established programs. Include volunteer, homeowner, and donor testimonials.
  • Oversight and maintenance of donor database - Keystone.
  • Assist with writing of grants.
  • Coordinate with executive director, staff and directors to streamline donor solicitations.
  • Oversight in developing fundraising goals for capital funds to build capacity.
  • Chair the resource development committee.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or currently enrolled in academic fields that would support work such as marketing, business, nonprofit management and/or fundraising certification preferred.
  • Experience of successfully working along a team of diverse individuals.
  • Professional or volunteer experience with economically challenged populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes and a results-oriented culture.
  • Have at least two to three years’ experience in sales/development.
  • Experience with a variety of standard office equipment as well as PC skills, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of general funding community preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication skills; person to person with exceptional verbal, written, listening and presentation skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems independently as well as work collectively.
