Job Description
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a Specialist, PR and Media Relations. A large part of our success comes from the strong brand that Habitat has built throughout the years. As part of our Media Relations Team, you will be responsible for responding to media inquiries and drafting media materials (press releases, fact sheets, online content and social media material.) In essence, you will be Habitat’s representative voice, responsible for telling our story. You are not only creative, outgoing, and responsive but are poised with grace under pressure and deadlines. One of your strengths is your attention to detail but able to work in an environment where priorities and timelines may change at a moment’s notice.
As a specialist of PR and media relations, you are comfortable communicating across all levels of the organization and across all media formats.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare, edit and distribute information regarding Habitat for Humanity International, its affiliates, partners and others to media
2. Provide media support for mid- and high-profile Habitat events, i.e., Jimmy Carter Work Projects, etc.
3. Assist in the community management of HFHI’s primary social media networks
4. Support Habitat senior leadership, International Board of Directors, etc. in their media needs
5. Work with affiliates, area offices, national organizations, etc., to support and provide media needs
Job Requirements
AS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE, YOU SHOULD 1. Possess a minimum of 1-3 years’ experience working as a member of the media or in media relations 2. Be well versed in writing in Associated Press style 3. Demonstrated proof reading skills a must 4. Extensive Internet knowledge including community management experience 5. Knowledge of or experience with Habitat for Humanity at any location a plus 6. Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel 7.
