Temporary Housing Policy Researcher

Job Description
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) has a temporary assignment available for a temporary Housing Policy Researcher to be based at its office in Washington, DC. The researcher will work approximately 32-40 hours per week, and the assignment is anticipated to last through December 2013.
As a member of the government relations and advocacy team, the key responsibilities include researching and writing memos and summaries on:
*Proposed federal, state and local regulations and legislation that may potentially impact Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the US.
*State and local housing policy issues.
*Successful state and local related efforts underway at Habitat for Humanity affiliates.
Job Requirements
*Bachelor’s degree.
*Master’s degree or current graduate student.
*1-3 years of research and policy experience.
*Experience reading, analyzing, and summarizing legislation, regulations, and/or laws.
*Previous experience with state or local policy, housing issues, and/or government relations is strongly preferred.
*Excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle several tasks while meeting tight deadlines.
