Job Description
Reports to: Habitat ReStore manager
Salary: Full-time, exempt, salary depends on experience.
This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
Primary duties and responsibilities
Financial:
- Achieve monthly/yearly financial budget.
- Assist Habitat ReStore manager in planning and implementing marketing strategies and public relations store events.
- Track movement of donated materials and purchased material.
- Identify gaps/problems/concerns of product assortment, bring to the attention of the manager and assist in finding solutions.
- Identify additional opportunities to raise revenue.
Manage day-to-day activities within the store:
- Verify daily sales/ cash register reconciliation.
- Supervise community service restitution program and volunteers. Verify paperwork, orientation and job assignment.
- Assess knowledge and skills of volunteers, assign them to jobs and train them as necessary.
- Assist customers; make and record sales.
- Work with staff to maintain a smooth-running operation and resolve conflicts.
- Monitor office and store equipment, and arrange for maintenance and repair.
- Ensure Habitat ReStore policies and procedures are followed by all associates and volunteers.
- Complete daily safety walks in store to ensure customer, employee and volunteer safety.
- Oversee maintenance of building, building security and building safety.
- Oversee display, cleanliness and organization of sales floor area.
- Verify pricing, track age of merchandise and reduce price accordingly.
- Supervise and schedule staff according to store needs and within budget guidelines.
Maintain records:
- Oversee daily accounting form being completed accurately.
- Track CSR and volunteer hours monthly.
- Oversee data entry of donation records.
- Other record keeping as required.
General responsibilities:
- Supervise staff, volunteers and CSRs.
- Schedule regular training for new staff and current staff members on new policies and programs.
- Conduct performance reviews on subordinates.
- Identify potential donors. Develop relationships with vendors, builders and community to increase donations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Understand and appreciate the mission of AHFH.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Posess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and the ability to multi-task.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently.
- Must be able to deal with all kinds of individuals and remain consistent in keeping a professional demeanor.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
Physical demands
Required to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and will experience frequent bending, squatting, lifting and repetitive motion. This position will occasionally be exposed to extremes in weather (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.).
Experience
A minimum of three years of management experience in a retail environment and supervisory role. Must have demonstrated independent responsibility for program management and accomplishing results. Experience supervising staff required.
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
Other requirements
Forklift certification is required.
