Job Description

Habitat for Humanity-Colville Valley has an opening for a Habitat ReStore manager.

The successful 12-year-old Habitat ReStore serving a rural population of approximately 44,000, is looking for a team leader with the following skills to take us to the next level. Salary depends on experience.

Job summary:

Under the direction of the governing board, the manager plans, organizes, promotes and directs operations and activities of the Habitat for Humanity, Colville Valley Partners ReStore to meet HFHCVP goals.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manages HFHCVP ReStore operations to achieve goals within budget and with available personnel.
  • Plans and organizes schedules, establishes goals and objectives.
  • Directs changes in priorities as needed to assure work is performed in a timely and efficient manner according to appropriate guidelines, procedures and regulations.
  • Provides leadership and direction and develops short and long-range plans, goals and objectives for HFHCVP ReStore.
  • Designs, develops and implements ReStore marketing plan.
  • Works closely with the HFHCVP operations director to develop, design and implement policies and procedures.
  • Provides the board with operational and financial reports as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and HFH regulations.
  • Responsible for the financial well-being of HFHCVP ReStore.
  • Approves all operational expenditures; ensures the efficient and economical use of funds, personnel, materials, facilities and time.
  • Prepares and submits required reports and requests for board consideration.
  • Serves as liaison between other organizations, the public and HFHCVP/ReStore on behalf of the board.
  • Designs, develops, implements and revises the business plan as necessary.
  • Responsible for selection, supervision and evaluation of staff.
  • Coordinates and implements volunteer recruitment and retention activities.
  • Establishes and enforces work rules and performance standards.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, and initiates and implements disciplinary actions as warranted.
  • Resolves grievances and other sensitive personnel matters.
  • Provides for the training and motivation of subordinates in order to make full use of individual capabilities and to meet demands.
  • Promotes HFHCVP and the ReStore to various special interest groups, other businesses, churches and others.
  • Serves as resource person to staff; provides guidance in analyzing requirements and policy and technical advice regarding Habitat ReStore goals and objectives.
  • Uses systems and records that provide for the proper evaluation, control and documentation of operations; prepares or oversees the preparation of reports and correspondence as required.
  • Assures guidelines and procedures are consistent with HFHCVP goals and objectives and applicable regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Habitat for Humanity International, state and local policies, procedures and regulations applicable to HFHCVP operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern principles and practices of management and supervision.
  • Extensive knowledge of retail marketing principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement short and long-range plans to meet Habitat ReStore and HFHCVP goals and objectives.
  • Ability to plan, organize and oversee implementation of  goals and objectives, including monitoring work assignments, developing and monitoring budgets and evaluating the work of subordinates.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate operations and develop and implement corrective action to resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, staff, volunteers and the general public.

Required education and experience:

  • Associates degree in business, administration, marketing or a related field.
  • Four years retail sales experience; and three years increasingly responsible retail experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability, required to perform the job.

Required certification and licenses:

  • Valid driver's license in state of residence.
  • Acceptable completion of a criminal history background check.
