Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity overview

The partnership brings together the financial, volunteer and advocacy resources of Thrivent Financial with the affordable-housing construction leadership of Habitat for Humanity’s local affiliates around the world.

During the past nine years, this integrated effort has resulted in the construction of more than 3,500 homes in the U.S and around the world. The partnership also engaged approximately 576,000 volunteers who contributed more than 4 million volunteer hours toward fulfilling Habitat’s mission.

Three programs are under the umbrella of the multi-year, multi-million dollar partnership:

  • Thrivent Builds Homes: Thrivent Financial sponsors the construction of hundreds of Habitat homes annually and engages thousands of volunteers in Habitat home-building projects. Fifty percent of the funding for each Thrivent Builds home will come from Thrivent Financial. Fifty percent of the remaining funding will come from the continuing fundraising efforts of local volunteers and Habitat for Humanity affiliates.
  • Thrivent Builds Repairs: Through Thrivent Builds Repairs, Thrivent Financial funds hundreds of repairs a year in partnership with local affiliates, mobilizing thousands of Thrivent members and supporters. The repairs and Thrivent members are transforming lives and communities.
  • Thrivent Builds Worldwide: Thrivent Financial provides the opportunity for short-term worldwide trips for members, congregations and other volunteers, providing a rich cultural experience while building homes abroad.

Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is the largest effort in the ongoing relationship between Thrivent Financial and Habitat. The partners have been working side-by-side with volunteers and homeowners for more than two decades, creating decent, affordable housing with low-income families.
